A thumbnail is a small version of an image. It allows you to view the image without having to open it, which if it is a large file, could take time.

The thumbnail is linked to the larger image, so if you click on it, the larger image will automatically open.

Thumbnails are useful when you want to quickly view a large number of images which are available.
