Value

In ICT terms, 'Value' can have one of two meanings:

Meaning One:

A value is a numerical number which is entered into a spreadsheet cell or database field.

Values are often used within calculations or formulae.

Meaning Two:

All data have 'values'. A value is the numerical quantity of the data. For example you could say "the data value is 20 seconds" this means that a number exists within the data that represents "20 seconds".

Values tend to have definite limits that depends on the type of data used to represent it. For example binary data can only have two values. Either zero and one or often "True or False"

A byte of data can only have 256 different values.
