Transaction File

Transaction means to exchange something.

A 'transaction' file is used to allow batch processing of data.

For example a 'stock control transaction file' would have a record of stock changes that may have happened over a day. The transaction file is then processed in one go (maybe over night) by a database so that the stock database is kept up to date.
