This is a term used to describe the words and characters on a page. The page can be paper or it can be electronic such as this web page you are reading.

The way text looks depends on the 'font' used to create it. For example

_sans: This is font without any sharp bits on the ends of letters

times roman: This has pointy bits on the ends of the letters

courier: This is courier font

Text can be emphasised or highlighted, for example

Bold

or made bigger

or even coloured

There is software available that can convert text to speech.
