This is the application of science and engineering knowledge to produce products and services. Sometimes technology is split into two descriptions:
'Hi-Tech' is used to indicate a product that uses the latest ideas and knowledge. For example, Blu-Ray DVD.
'Low-tech' describes a product or service that only uses simple engineering or science knowledge, for example, a spade.
