Petabyte / Petaflop
'Peta' is a huge number.
In decimal terms it is
1,000,000,000,000,000 or, one thousand million million, or ten raised to the power of 15
It was rarely needed outside of mathematics, but now it is being used to quantify things like how many bytes of data the large hadron collider at CERN will produce once it fires up. Or the speed of the fastest supercomputers in floating point operations per second (petaflops).
A petabyte is also 1,024 terabytes.
