Netscape

Netscape Navigator was one of the earliest of the Web browsers and it was a step up from the earlier ones such as the very basic Mosiac browser.

It was first released in 1994 and it continued to be developed right up to 2008.

The rendering engine within the browser was called Gheko and this code base was then used as a basis of the Firefox browser maintained by Mozilla
