Fire Wire
A type of connector developed by Apple. It is a high speed serial connector.
It follows the IEEE 1394 standard and is useful for connecting equipment such as an iPod, Digital camcorder or camera to a computer in order to transfer video and photographs on to hard disk.
Sony also developed an identical connector called iLink.
It is used less these days because USB 2.0 has become more popular.
