A networking term.
A very common form of network is called client / server architecture.
In fact you are probably reading this on a 'client' computer at the moment. A client computer allows you to log on to the network, then you will see one or more network drives available to you. These are folders stored on a file server somewhere on the network.
A server provides client computer with data.
