Artificial intelligence (or AI) is the ability of a computer to perform tasks such as reasoning and learning that human intelligence is capable of doing.
Up to now, engineers have been able to apply AI ideas on computers with a very narrow purpose, for example, playing chess or predicting a medical diagnosis.
We are still far away from a computer that has 'common sense' - one of the key things that an intelligent person has.
