3. Your mental model can be fooled
To show how your brain can be fooled into making assumptions about the world, look at this ordinary looking room below.
It is called the 'Ames room' and plays around with your metal model of what a room should be like.

Your mental model insists that rooms have vertical walls and that floors are flat so you are surprised when the person changes size by simply walking around this distorted room.
The point as far as HCI design is concerned - make your interface as predictable as possible.
