An ICT Free WorldStudents often struggle to answer questions about the benefits which ICT brings. Anna has designed an exercise to get students to think about how tasks would be performed in an organisation without any ICT. They should then find it easier to translate this knowledge into answering exam questions about benefits of ICT. |

Backup plans and data recoveryOne of the areas that students have difficulty answering is related to backup procedures, and the items it should include. Often the main problem is that they are unable to understand the scale and importance of a backup and recovery plan for an organisation as they have no context within which to understand it. Anna Martin arranged for her Network Manager to talk to her students about the schools' recover/backup plan. The students then had to complete the accompanying tasksheet. She found that this was an excellent way to put this section in context and to enable them to give more realistic answers to questions on this topic. |

Powerpoint TaskAnna has produced some resources to further develop a task originally created by us. Students are asked to develop a PPT about a new band. Anna has produced an evaluation sheet to encourage students to think about the decisions that they made. She has also produced a lesson plan which could be used to support a theory lesson on the use of presentation packages. |

Data SecurityAn excellent resource that can be used to help students consider the different security methods which can be used against a range of data security threats. Students can either write the statments in the appropriate box or they could cut and stick them onto the sheet |
